United States: President Donald Trump issued an executive order against the Jenner & Block law firm because they weaponized governmental agencies and legal procedures, according to a White House official statement.
White House Cites ‘Weaponization of Government’
“We’ve taken action against a number of law firms that have participated either in the weaponization of government, the weaponization of the legal system for political ends or have otherwise engaged in illegal or inappropriate activities,” said White House Staff Secretary Will Scharf, as reported by Reuters.
The firm Jenner & Block did not issue a statement about the court order since the order itself remained unavailable.
The law firm used to employ Andrew Weissmann who had led investigations regarding Russia’s 2016 presidential election interference with Robert Mueller as U.S. Special Counsel. Weissmann spent two stretches at Jenner from 2006 to 2011 and again from 2020 onwards after his role on Mueller’s prosecution team.

Legal Battles and Previous Actions
Six days after the Wall Street firm Paul Weiss reached an agreement with President Trump to resolve their stated federal contract risks, Trump issued this executive order.
Perkins Coie filed a lawsuit against the administration in the previous month after asserting Trump’s measures violated the Constitution and resulted in significant client attrition.
The Washington judge placed a temporary halt on Perkins Coie’s restricted order because his court evaluation predicted the firm’s case would win.
Targeting Attorneys in Immigration and Federal Cases
As part of his directive on Friday, Trump instructed the Justice Department to target attorneys along with their firms, which either maintained immigration cases or filed lawsuits against the federal government during the previous eight years, as reported by Reuters.
