United States: Vice President Kamala Harris has requested former President Donald Trump’s running mate J.D. Vance to attend the August 13 CBS debate, a source from the Biden Harris campaign stated on Tuesday, as reported by Reuters.
Harris Extends Debate Invitation
Harris enquired in a voicemail to Vance on Monday after his selection as Trump’s vice-presidential pick.
The two candidates addressed the people on Tuesday, according to the person, but their campaigns have not agreed on the debate conditions.
The Trump campaign did not reply to a query sent for feedback, and the Biden campaign declined to make a remark.
Debate Conditions Remain Unsettled
The Democratic vice president had agreed to terms for a CBS (PARA. O) debate on either the 23rd of July or the 13th of August while Trump campaign had requested for a Fox News debate that Biden camp had stated that they would not accept.
The earlier proposed July for the CBS debate is no longer feasible, a source close to the matter stated.
“I think he’d be more than happy to go forward with the debate,” said Lara Trump, co-chair of the Republican National Committee, referring to Vance, as reported by Reuters.
“And I don’t see any reason why he wouldn’t. I think it’s important. You know, we’ve traditionally always had a VP debate. We’d love to see it.”
