United States – DNC will make an initial investment of more than $100,000 to register 9 million Americans living in other countries as it seeks to mobilize its vice presidential candidate Kamala Harris in the forthcoming November 5 presidential election.
As part of a funding source for Democrats Abroad, the party will use the money to finance voter registration campaigns and distribute information on how to vote by absentee, a DNC official said on Monday, as reported by Reuters.
Focus on Key Swing States
Officials from the DNC said there were over 1. 6 million Americans in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin who live overseas and want their vote to be counted, and it would vote for every single one.
They are necessary to turn either Harris or Republican former President Donald Trump into an election winner. Trump lost against current President Joe Biden in 2020 presidency with 44,000 votes in Arizona, Georgia, and Wisconsin alone.
“The DNC is using all extends to ensure that Kamala Harris will become the next president of the United States,” it said in a statement, considering that only 8 percent of Americans living outside the country had registered to vote in the 2020 election.
“This election will be won on the margins, and with only three months until the election, every vote matters – including the votes of those who are serving or living abroad.”
The official noted that currently, there are many American citizens living in other countries, especially in Mexico, while others live in different parts of Europe.
Campaign in Swing States
Harris, 57, and her running mate Walz — the Governor of Minnesota — last week campaigned in multiple other swing states, with tens of thousands of people attending the rallies, which have since continued and gained more and more popularity since Harris took the topmost position of the Democrats when Biden demoted himself to a mere figurehead president.
Rising Poll Numbers
Biden, 81, dropped his bid and supported Harris when a loss to Trump caused factionalism in the Democratic camp and led to doubts that he could defeat the Republican or complete another four-year term.
With that approval, Harris leads Trump by a four-percentage point margin each in a New York Times-Siena College poll of Wisconsin voters, Michigan voters, and Pennsylvania voters, which has drastically shifted since pre-Biden suspension polls in those swing states, as reported by Reuters.
For what concerns the nationwide preferences, Harris enjoyed 42% to 37%, Trump Harris in a Thursday’s Ipsos poll, and a gap to the July 22-23 Reuters/Ipsos survey revealed that she was at 37% of the-Trump with 34%.
Overseas Voters
Martha McDevitt-Pugh, the chair of Democrats Abroad, described the DNC funding as a confident proclamation of our work and voter group, which votes back in their home state and are the deciding voters in the significant elections such as the Georgia state in 2020.
