Washington, United States: US President Joe Biden mentioned that he might skip the upcoming presidential elections if his Republican opponent, Donald Trump, will not be participating for a second term. President cited that the Republican is a threat to the nation.

This announcement was made by the president during a 2024 election campaign fundraiser – organized in Weston, Massachusetts. The 81-year-old Democrat, during the campaign, was quoted saying, “If Trump wasn’t running, I’m not sure I’d be running. But we cannot let him win.”

Biden praised Liz Cheney

During the event, President Biden praised the former Republican lawmaker Liz Cheney for his ‘powerful voice.’ Biden underscored that Cheney was absolutely correct when he stated that the United States would be “sleepwalking into dictatorship” if Donald Trump were elected again for the second term, according to the reports by AFP.

Furthermore, he mentioned the Atlantic magazine, which stated about the threats posed by the re-election of Donald Trump. It is to be noted the magazine is the third US media outlet, along with the Washington Post and New York Times, to post such a warning about the former US President.

Biden targets Trump

Earlier, during another fundraiser event held in Boston, Biden took a dig at Trump and slammed him for his unethical language during the campaign trail. President criticized his Republican rival after Trump called his opponents “vermin.” Biden underlined that this statement echoed the language used in Germany in the year 1930s – the time when Adolf Hitler’s Nazis were on the rise.

According to the reports by the news agency AFP, Biden was quoted saying, “Trump’s not even hiding the ball anymore. He’s telling us what he’s going to do. He’s making no bones about it.”

The clash between Biden and Trump

Biden – the one who claimed the seat in the 2020 presidential elections – has always said that he has been working to defend the democracy of America in the next year’s votes. However, the latest opinion polls suggest that Trump is leading the race despite the number of criminal trials. The voters have underlined that the major concern among them is related to Biden’s age.
